With the gradual development and refinement of global SD-WAN, an increasing number of enterprises are opting for global SD-WAN to undergo network transformation. According to IDC research, 47% of enterprises have successfully migrated to global SD-WAN, and an additional 48% express their intention to deploy this technology within the next two months.

As reported by Channel Futures, transitioning from traditional MPLS networks to global SD-WAN has become an undeniable trend for the majority of companies. Recently, IDC released a whitepaper commissioned by GTT Communications titled "Unleashing the Potential of SD-WAN." Based on surveys of hundreds of IT decision-makers, the report reveals the widespread adoption of global SD-WAN. The driving motivations behind the deployment of this technology continue to evolve, especially with the increasing popularity of managed service consumption models.

IDC identifies three key drivers for the adoption of international SD-WAN. Firstly, customers perceive international SD-WAN as an overlay that centralizes, automates, and optimizes extensive networks, vendors, and workloads. Secondly, international SD-WAN offers time and cost savings, streamlining business operations. Thirdly, international SD-WAN aids enterprises in achieving strategic technological goals related to cloud and network security. Notably, 39% of respondents express a high level of importance in establishing a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE).

The head of international SD-WAN Experts emphasizes that even companies not deeply engaged in digital transformation are inevitably moving towards international SD-WAN. This is primarily attributed to the slow but inevitable retirement of MPLS networks faced by many enterprises. He states, "While digital-first companies are major adopters of international SD-WAN, in my experience, almost every company with MPLS networks transitions to international SD-WAN as contracts expire. It's simply common practice today."

IDC conducted surveys on 650 companies in the United States and Europe, each operating in at least two countries. These companies collectively contribute over 200 million euros (206 million USD) in revenue annually to the international SD-WAN sector.
